  • The police investigating the recent shooting of a RPF head constable by his colleague have revealed that the accused might have received a call from the victim’s family after he was shot. Railway Protection Force’s head constable Uddal Singh was shot dead by his colleague, head constable Shivram Sharma, with his service rifle on Sunday.

“During investigations, it has come to our notice that sometime between shooting down Singh and being arrested by his colleagues, Sharma might have received a call from Singh’s family in Mathura to enquire about his well-being. Sharma allegedly told them that he was in good health, even as Singh was lying dead at his feet. This information has come to us through one of the RPF constables who heard another constable talking about how the latter had overheard parts of the conversation between Sharma and Singh’s family. However, we have not got his name so far and are making efforts to identify him as no one from the RPF has come to us so far,” said an officer from the Nirmal Nagar police which is probing the case.

The officer further said that in order to find out more about the phone call, the police have sent applications to the mobile phone service provider concerned to get Sharma’s call records. These records could not only confirm the conversation between Sharma and Singh’s family, but also help police find out about his general state of mind by tracing the numbers he had called, if any, right before the incident.

“We have sent application to the mobile company and are awaiting the records. Sharma has complained of headache and had to be admitted to the Bhabha Hospital yesterday for medical attention and so we could not interrogate him recently. However, he still is not giving any logical replies and merely says that he was ‘commanded by a supernatural power’ to kill Singh,” said the official.
