The son of a Delhi Police inspector has been booked for getting into a scuffle in school,during which he allegedly brandished a revolver and also threatened a teacher when he tried to intervene. The boys father Sunder Dev,of the Mandawali police station,has been temporarily suspended while investigations are on to find out whether it was his service pistol the boy took to school. A student of Class X at the Guru Tegh Bahadur School in Model Town,North Delhi,the minor boy and three of his friends also booked got into a fight with students Malkiyat Singh and Karamveer Singh on September 18. The duo said the boy took out the pistol during the fight and also tried to intimidate a teacher. The boy then proceeded to hammer the two with the butt of his pistol. An FIR was lodged on September 26,and the boys were immediately booked,after senior officers heard of the incident. The boys are now in a juvenile home. Malkiyat suffered bruises while Karamveer was given stitches on his head,family members said. Karamveers relatives also alleged that the police tried to hush up the case at first and were reluctant to even register the FIR. Police sources said the school authorities then approached Commissioner Y S Dadwal who immediately ordered an inquiry,following which the case was opened. The police are probing the veracity of the accusations trying to ascertain whether the boy had actually used the gun. Police officers said: The inquiry is on at the local police station. A senior officer said: The boy was reckless to take a pistol to school. We are trying to find out who owned the weapon. Strict action will be taken against the father if it is established the pistol was his official weapon.
