  • Mohammed Omar Madni, a suspected aide of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) founder, Hafiz Saeed, is likely to be questioned by Gujarat Police, to find out if he had any role in terror incidents in the state.

“We are in touch with the Delhi Police and a team will be sent there soon to interrogate Madni,” Gujarat Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) chief Inspector General of Police Ajay Tomar said.

Madni, who was arrested by Delhi Police on Thursday, was allegedly looking to recruit new personnel for the Pakistan-based terrorist outfit, and had knowledge about LeT operatives working out of Nepal.

He was in India allegedly to enrol youth from major cities for terror acts.

Sources in Gujarat Police said that Madni will be questioned to find out if he had recruited people from the state in the past and whether he was in touch with anyone from the state.
