Cops yet to record statement of former CMO Shukla

Almost three months after an FIR was lodged against former Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Lucknow Dr AK Shukla regarding financial irregularities in the Department of Health and Family Welfare,police have yet not recorded his statement.

Almost three months after an FIR was lodged against former Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Lucknow Dr AK Shukla regarding financial irregularities in the Department of Health and Family Welfare,police have yet not recorded his statement.

Investigating officer S Rahim,who was summoned by Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Intakhab Alam,to report on the progress of investigation,said the statement of Dr Shukla has not been recorded.

Dr Shukla is also a co-accused of former deputy CMO Y S Sachan in one of the two FIRs,which were lodged after the murder of CMO Dr B P Singh in April.

While Dr Sachan was found dead in Lucknow jail under mysterious circumstances on June 22,the police have not arrested Dr Shukla.

Meanwhile,the police today filed the chargesheet in Dr Sachan was the main accused. Shukla,who is related to a top law official of the government,is posted as a joint director in the Directorate of Medical and Health.
