Police suspect that more than one person could be involved in the murder of the unidentified woman,whose body was sent to Ajmer in a trunk through a Delhi courier agency.
Doctors in Rajasthan,who conducted the post-mortem examination of the woman (in her late twenties),said the nature of injuries suggests that more than one person could have been involved in the murder. This was confirmed by Narendra Singh,Station House Officer of the Maidan Ganj police station in Ajmer.
On Wednesday,Delhi Police released the sketch of the suspect,who took the trunk to Milap Transport Roadlines at Lahori Gate,North Delhi. We have questioned almost all rickshawpullers in the area,and now we are focussing on those from Seelampur,Usmanpur,Jafrabad and Bhajanpura,among others, a senior police officer said. The body was decomposed to such an extent that it could not be ascertained whether she was sexually assaulted or not.
The sender,who identified himself as B,said he would collect it in Ajmer.
The body was discovered by workers of the transportation company at their Ajmer office on April 8,after a foul smell started emanating from the parcel. A case has been registered at the Maidan Ganj police station.
The Delhi Police has declared a reward of Rs 50,000 to anybody who provides any information on the suspect.
While two teams of the Rajasthan Police are camping in the Capital to investigate the case,the Delhi Police has constituted eight teams to unravel the mystery.
Police said the autopsy was delayed as the doctors at the government hospital did not know how to preserve the DNA samples of the dead woman.
