Councillor charged with beating man

The Gurgaon police have lodged a case against Rishi Raj Rana,the councillor from Ward no. 1,and his four accomplices for allegedly assaulting the lineman of a power provider.

The lineman reportedly suffered a broken jaw as well as teeth during the assault.

DCP (West) Abhay Rao told Newsline,The lineman concerned had gone to the area for conducting repairs. The councillor was reportedly angry because there was no electricity in the area for the last two days. We have the required evidence,and will arrest the accused soon.

Police said Rana has been booked under Section 325 and a couple of others sections. The police also sent a team to the councillors residence,but could not arrest him because he was away.
