  • It is an open secret that the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) is a divided house in the Municipal Corporation. But today, the councillors gave another proof when one group of SAD councillors went to meet Mayor Hakam Singh Giaspura to discuss their issues but the patrons of Simarjit Singh Bains, who is in the jail, stayed away. Nearly 20 councillors, along with SAD councillors’ head Harbhajan Singh Dang, met the Mayor to discuss issues in their respective wards. All of them are also ardent followers of Cabinet Minister Hira Singh Gabria.

In the past too, Dang and Bains have conducted separate meetings with the Mayor. Today, the councillors discussed the pending problems of their wards because they could not speak anything in the general house as the Mayor had adjourned the meeting in three minutes. The councillors requested the Mayor that all the joint commissioners should be given charge of all the departments of their respective zones.

In the past even, Congress and BJP councillors have also met the Mayor in separate meetings and have asked him to clear the pending projects in their wards soon.

The Mayor, meanwhile, has promised to conduct a general house meeting on August 10 in which enough zero hour time would be given to all so that they need not to conduct meetings in different groups.
