Couple on run after ‘poisoning’ married daughter

“We are on a lookout for Govind Prajapati and his wife Madhu,who poisoned their daughter on Thursday,” said the police.

According to preliminary investigation,the incident occurred at the victim’s home at Pardi village in Lodhika taluka of Rajkot district. Following a statement given by Kailash,the police have registered a case of attempt to murder against the couple.

The police said that only last month,the baby shower ceremony of Kailash was held but the victim,who did not trust her parents,did not turn up at her parental home for delivery.

The Prajapati couple visited their daughter on Thursday,the police said,adding that after her husband Jairaj left for work and her mother-in-law and father-in-law also went out,the couple found a chance to poison their daughter.

“Madhu offered poison to her daughter claiming it was tonic. When Kailash refused to take it,the couple allegedly forced her to drink it and fled the place,” said the police.

A neighhbour informed Kailash’s husband and other family members about the incident,following which she was rushed to the Rajkot Civil Hospital.

The police said around two years ago,Kailash and Jairaj got engaged with their parents’ permission but later the Prajapatis wanted to call off the marriage for some reason. However,Kailash went ahead and married Jairaj.
