Court accepts charges in Thane blast case

The Sewree Fast Track Court conducting trial in the Thane blast case on Thursday accepted all the charges drafted by the prosecution against six accused booked for blasts at auditoriums in Thane and Vashi and a movie theatre in Panvel.

The six accused — Ramesh Gadkari,Mangesh Nikam,Vikram Bhave,Santosh Angre,Haribhau Divekar and Hemant Chalke — have been charged with criminal conspiracy,attempt to murder and under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC),Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act,Explosives Act,Explosive Substances Act and the Arms Act.

The accused allegedly belong to a Hindu group.

Sessions Judge V B Kamkhedkar accepted the draft charges and a procedural signature was taken by every accused.

Meanwhile,when asked all the accused also pleaded not guilty for each charge leveled against them. When the judge offered to plead guilty of conducting recce,carrying out a state wide campaign against the movie Jodha Akbar and play Aamhi Pachpute,making explosives and carrying out explosion,the accused answered,“We have all been wrongly implicated.”

The ATS has arrested a total of six accused in the three cases in which crude bombs were panted. All six have been booked for their alleged involvement in planting of improvised explosive devices at the auditoriums in Thane and Vashi and a movie theatre in Panvel earlier last year.
