A sessions court on Saturday deferred its decision on the bail petition of NCP MP Padmasinh Patil, accused of allegedly plotting to murder social activist Anna Hazare, till November 18.
Patil was sent to judicial custody till November 24 after he surrendered before the sessions court on Wednesday on the directive of Supreme Court that had asked him to surrender in a week's time.
After he was produced before the court Patil's lawyer had sought interim bail, which was refused by the court.
His lawyer Shishir Gupte on Saturday filed the regular bail plea before the court.
After hearing both the sides, Additional Sessions and district judge D S Marathe deferred the decision on the petition till November 18.
Hazare, in his complaint with the police here on September 25, had alleged Patil, along with a co-accused in Nimbalkar murder case, Parasmal Jain, conspired to kill him as Hazare had exposed Terna sugar factory scam in which Patil was found guilty of misappropriation by an inquiry commission and had to subsequently resign from the ministry.
Jain has also confessed this before CBI, Hazare has said in his complaint.
Patil was booked under section 120 B (criminal conspiracy), 304 (attempt to murder), 511 (attempt to commit offences punishable with imprisonment or life) and 34 (acts done by several persons with common intention) of IPC.
Meanwhile, Patil is undergoing treatment at the Government Civil hospital here after he complained of high blood pressure and dizziness.
