Court denies bail to lawyer who ‘cheated’

  • The Metropolitan Court on Wednesday rejected the bail application of one Morris Christian, who had faked his vakalatnama to help ATS Constable N V Chauhan get bail.

    The policeman was an accused in the Sohrabuddin Shaikh fake encounter case.

    Judicial First Class Magistrate Asha Vanani rejected the bail terming the offence a serious one and also held that Christian had cheated the court and the public.

    Earlier, the Bar Council of Gujarat had registered a police complaint against Christian after the matter had come to light.
