Maya Kodnani, a former Gujarat Minister and an accused in the 2002 Naroda Patiya riot case, alleged on Wednesday that the inquiry of the Special Investigation Team is politically motivated by the Congress.

"The inquiry of the SIT is politically motivated by Congress. This is one sided investigation," Maya told reporters here while being taken away from the local court by the investigating officers.

Metropolitan magistrate G M Patel had earlier extended her remand till April 4 on the demand of the Supreme Court-appointed SIT, which is investigating some post-Godhra riot cases afresh.

"This is an injustice against woman. People of the country will punish Congress in the coming elections. We are innocent and have full faith in legal system," Maya said.

"SIT chief R Raghvan and senior member C D Satpathy had come to Gandhinagar, so we had requested them to give us some time so we can make a submission to him, but they did not listen to us. This is a one sided investigation," she added.
