A local court today issued production warrants of Saji Mohan,former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) director and IPS officer,in an embezzlement case. Mohan,who at present is in the custody of Mumbai Police in Central Jail, Mumbai has been asked to appear before the Court on May 25. The charges against Saji Mohan under section 409 (criminal breach of trust by public servant),120-B (criminal conspiracy) of Indian Penal Code and 13(1)(C) and 13(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act already stand framed. The Chandigarh Police had registered a case on January 30,2009 against former NCB Chief Saji Mohan and NCB Superintendent Balwinder Kumar. The allegations against the duo are that Saji and Kumar,in connivance with each other,misappropriated Rs 13.85 lakh. The amount,which was part of a case property,was handed over by Kumar to Mohan in December 2008 for depositing the same in a bank. However,the money was allegedly not deposited by Mohan. In this case complaint was lodged by RC Bodh,the in-charge of case properties and chargesheet was filed in June 2009. The Mumbai Police had booked Saji Mohan in a case wherein contraband was seized from him.
