CP murder linked to 2008 blast witness?

A 22-Year-Old man was stabbed to death,and his wife assaulted,allegedly by five persons,on Baba Kharak Singh Marg,Connaught Place,on Wednesday night.

A 22-Year-Old man was stabbed to death,and his wife assaulted,allegedly by five persons,on Baba Kharak Singh Marg,Connaught Place,on Wednesday night. While police said the man was attacked for his money,his relatives claimed that the assailants wanted to know the whereabouts of his nephew,who was an eyewitness to the 2008 Delhi serial blasts.

Police said the victim,Tantya,was sitting with his wife Lanchi (20) on the footpath around 10 pm when the incident occurred. The accused Vijay,Rohit alias Nanhe,Dhanjit alias Dhanne,Vinod Kumar and Bobby alias Robin attacked the couple with knives. The deceaseds wife,who was injured,was taken to the Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital.

We have thoroughly interrogated the accused and any claim that the blasts eyewitness was related to the victim is completely baseless, said police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat.

However,witnesses who gathered outside the Connaught Place police station said the accused had killed Tantya because he refused to reveal the whereabouts of his nephew,who was an eyewitness to the serial blasts that rocked Delhi in September 2008.

The nephew,a balloon seller,was rewarded by the police for throwing a bomb away from Regal building. Induprakash Singh,Technical Advisor of the Indo-Global Social Service Society,which has been working with the nephews community for years,said the blasts eyewitness was the nephew of the murdered man.

I think he was also awarded. Since then,he has been in police protection,and they have been taking care of his education and accommodation, Singh said.

Lanchi,who was discharged from RML Hospital on Thursday afternoon,said,On several occasions,the accused threatened my husband with dire consequences if he did not tell them where his nephew was. We were not attacked for money. They have a six-month-old daughter.
