Burdwan:A CPM worker who works at Burdwan University was arrested on Friday for allegedly raping a woman. CPM worker Rup Kumar Gupta was arrested from Mirzapur area after a woma n alleged that Gupta had raped her a number of times and was also blackmailing. The woman further alleged that Gupta had clicked some of her pictures in his mobile phone and was blackmailing her over the pictures.
Police remand for Topsia rape accused
Kolkata:The two persons held for raping a minor in Topsia were sent in 10 days of police custody on Friday. The duo — Mohd Rizwan and Mohd Imran were produced before Alipore Court. Police sources said the two had named more people in the rape of the minor. "But it was found that they were only accomplice to the crime. Rizwan and Imran are the only ones who had raped the girl," said a police officer. Police are also probing into who had supplied drugs at the rave party. The 14-year-old girl, also a resident of Topsia, in her complaint said she, along with two friends, had gone to a rave party at Rizwan's place, where she was raped by Rizwan and another friend of his.
