  • Activists of ruling CPM stormed into a police station and released a party activist involved in two criminal cases, in north Kerala on Saturday morning. The CPM mob attacked three policemen, including a woman constable, to get the party worker released.

According to sources, the Kottakkal police had taken into custody Hamthan, 23, who was involved in political violence and an attack on a super market. On Saturday morning, his partymen entered the police station when only two constables and an assistant sub-insector were on duty. The assailants seized the gun from the guard and attacked the men on duty before freeing the party activist.

Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said stern action would be taken against the assailants.
