  • The CPM Polit Bureau met in New Delhi on Saturday ahead of the crucial Central Committee meeting which will try to find an end to the "disunity" in its Kerala unit where its top state leaders V S Achuthanandan and Pinarayi Vijayan are on a war path.

The PB meeting was attended by party General Secretary Prakash Karat, Sitaram Yechury, M K Pandhe, Brinda Karat, Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, S Ramachandran Pillai, Manick Sarkar and Biman Bose among others.

"The meeting of the Polit Bureau comes ahead of the Central Committee meeting. This meeting will discuss the agenda of the Central Committee meeting," a senior party leader said.

Battling serious infighting in its Kerala unit, the CPI(M) Polit Bureau last week was understood to have taken a decision to discipline Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan and his detractor Pinarayi Vijayan.

The PB had then decided to forward the "proposals" which it finalised during the meeting to the Central Committee.

Last week's meeting saw intense and heated discussions and among the proposals was action against the Chief Minister whose statements the Central Committee said had helped Congress during elections. Vijayan is also expected to face some action.

There were reportedly arguments within the Polit Bureau over action against Vijayan, against whom prosecution is pending in SNC Lavalin graft case. At least three Polit Bureau members are understood to have opposed the view that Vijayan should be let off.

The problem in Kerala has become far more complex after the CPI(M)'s drubbing in the Lok Sabha polls even as it is groping for answers for its dismal performance.

How many Crores? Any explanation where he got it?.If he is a leader of the hardworking poor people of Kerala, who are starving,do not own a house, he should divide the wealth he made thru curruption, to the poor people of Kerala.

Left and it's leadersBy: Vinod Pal Singh | 12-Jul-2009 Reply | Forward God save Communism from it's the so called "leaders".Karat n company now is on the look out for scapegoats. Karat's is one of the worst leadership that I see among the political parties. But, is Karat's a leadership ?? Yes, indiscipline should be attacked, but, it should not be by people like Karat. I wonder how come he is still maintaining his "moral" face. Let he first work out as to what a real leader is then venture out on the organisational issues. In any case let there is someone else at the helm of affairs. It's real tragedy with the Left and sooner they get it the better its going to be.
No PuzzleBy: anand | 11-Jul-2009 Reply | Forward There is no leader in Indian communist party who can be compare with Kerala CM Achuthandan in terms of intergrity and morale and Karat is well aware of that. May be he is seeing it as an oppurttunity to be Pontius Pilate washing his hands, letting to crucify the veteran on many wars
The communist puzzleBy: Hubert Pereira | 11-Jul-2009 Reply | Forward Yes, it is indeed a great pity that the most literate state in this beautiful nation is besieged with these internal bickering of the political lords whether it be the congress or the communists. At the same time Keralites have done a good job by keeping the communal forces out of the state! However one wonders how there will be eventual growth so that there will be prosperity across the board for all Keraliltes, irrespective of caste, religion or political backdrop. The common man, the Keralite must prosper, must grow, must attain harmony peace and happiness, and that should be the goal or the mantra of the political patriarchs. To this end, people like pinarayi vijayan et all must be brought to task. And the day we manage to do that, the rest will follow.Mera Bharat Mahan - and nothing else matters!!!!
