IBM outplayed Symantec in a match for the Cybage T20 Inter IT Cup on Sunday. Winning the toss, IBM decided to bat first on a good pitch at the Poona Club Ground. It proved a good decision on their part as their openers Niranjan Dravid and Deepak Sharma set them off to a flier.
Sharma scored 42 off 35 balls, which included 6 fours and a six while Dravid scored 32 off 27 balls with 5 fours and a six. Riding on the super start given to them the IBM team posed an imposing 160 for the loss of eight wickets and set Symantec a target of 161 to get.
Symantec began on a disastrous start losing two early wickets.
The middle order tried to strengthen the batting with good performances from Prashant Ambardekar 32 off 38 balls with 4 Fours, and Jatinde,r 41 off 45 with 4 Fours, but once their resistance gave way the remaining team simply crumbled. Symantec finally finished their stipulated overs quota falling short by 30 runs, getting 130 for the loss of nine wickets.
In the other match HSBC Global Tech lost to Honeywell Automation.
HSBC who managed a paltry 122 in 20 overs were defeated by Honeywell Automation who reached the required target with five wickets and 2 balls to spare.
