Bowl out Polio aims to spread awareness on intensified pulse polio immunisation,in which UP skipper Mohammad Kaif and Delhi captain Aakash Chopra participated besides stars like RP Singh and Suresh Raina. The event was organised by Unicef. The cricketers also administered the oral polio vaccine to children under five years of age. And they reminded the media about its duty,requesting it to ensure that all children under 5 receive oral vaccine on December 6. Speaking on the occasion,Chopra said: Polio eradication is in the last phase and most cases belong to UP and Bihar. So it is the duty of the celebrities and media to spread awareness in these states. Even while travelling,parents should immunise their children as transit vaccination teams are available at railway stations and on roads. Kaif said it will be one of his dreams coming true if polio is eradicated from the country. I have been involved with the Polio eradication drives for the past couple of years, he said. A lot still needs to be done in UP. Every child should take the polio vaccine as I want every child to play cricket freely without any difficulty. Singh said he has been involved in the polio eradication drive for some time and organisations like the Unicef are doing a good job in this direction. All-rounder Suresh Raina said there have been polio cases from his hometown Ghaziabad and he was ready to participate in mass awareness campaigns in Ghaziabad and elsewhere to eradicate polio. After administering the vaccine,the cricketers posed for a photo session with the children.
