Crime branch begins probe into Sabarimala tragedy

Forensic experts visited the accident site and the Pullmedu area to scout for evidence on Sunday.

The Crime branch on Sunday,began a probe to find out the cause for the Sabarimala stampede which had claimed 102 lives on Friday.

Officials of crime branch visited the accident spot and took evidence. Forensic experts also visited the Pullmedu area where the mishap occurred on Friday night,official sources said.

Besides,the crime branch probe,Kerala government had also decided to hold a judicial enquiry into the worst religious mishap that claimed lives of Ayyappa devotees who were returning after Darshan at Lord Ayyappa temple at Sabarimala on Mandalavilaku day on January 14.

Initial reports had stated that a minor accident involving a jeep and Autorickshaw lead to a commotion triggering the stampede.
