The Calcutta Stock Exchange (CSE) posted steady gains during the week,which was marked by moderate volatility.
The index gained 88.79 points during the week,compared to a close to 250-point gain in the previous week.
The CSE-40 index opened at 7459.06 and till Wednesday,the index was on a gaining spree and touched an intra-week high of 7,585.04. However,the index eased in the last two sessions of the week and closed at 7,547.85.
BHEL closed higher at 2,201.05. Infosys Technologies also rose to close the week at Rs 3,222.
ONGC was quoted at Rs 287 and Reliance Industries closed at Rs 1027 at the end of the trading week.
SBI gained,ending at Rs 2,780,and Tata Steel finished higher at Rs 627 at the end of the trading week.
