Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) has proposed to allow concessional passes to school students in CTU air-condition buses.
"The monthly pass will be priced at Rs 100, through which students will be allowed to travel in both AC and non-AC buses. Presently, no there are no concessional AC bus passes in any category but we decided to introduce it for the students so that the number of buses available for their use increases in number," says CTU General Manager S P Parmar.
He said that an approval may be granted in the next ten days following which around 32,000 school students, presently holding passes can avail the benefit. He said that the decision was taken considering the safety and comfort of students to be ensured within the existing number of buses. Presently, CTU has 74 local AC buses.
