Most of them could not wait to grow up and exercise their right to vote. Children across the UT happily tagged along with their parents thrilled to know more about what was happening around them.

Many were seen sitting in the tents set up by different parties near the polling booth and happily taking cue from their parents, persuading people to vote for a particular party.

Ishita, a Class IV student of Bhavan Vidyalaya, who was sitting in the tent set up by the supporters of BJP in Sector 15, said: “I have been here since 8 am with my father asking people to vote for the BJP.”

On why she is 'campaigning' for the BJP, Ishita said: “Papa told me that if the BJP comes to power, commodities of daily need will get cheaper and then we can buy more of anything we want.”

Lending her a helping hand was Sanyam, a Class V student of DAV Public School in Sector 8. Sporting a BJP scarf around his neck, he too was persuading people to vote for the BJP.

Children in other sectors, including 23, 16 and 14, were seen happily giving voters' slips to all those coming to the polling booths. Aman, a Class VII student at the Sector 23 booth, said: “I love the entire activity and even before polling day, I accompanied my father, who is supporting the Congress, regularly for campaigning. I will definitely not miss any chance to vote once I grow up.”
