Cybercafe bust: 6 in police remand

Ludhiana Police on Wednesday took the six men caught from a Kidwai Nagar based cybercafe on one-day police remand while the five girls also caught with them were made the witnesses. The cafe, owned by Gaurav — nephew of BJP leader Ramesh Bangar — was raided Tuesday.

Bangar Wednesday clarified:

"The owner of the cafe is my relative, but I have no contact with him for more than 12 years. So my name should not be dragged in between. The police has done a good job and the culprits should be punished."

Plywood body to meet Badal on Jan 11

Ludhiana: Punjab Plywood manufacturers association will be meeting Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on January 11 regarding problems being faced by the agro-based industry. President of the association, Ashok Kumar Juneja said they will request Badal to not impose any kind of intervention of marketing department.

Human chain for traffic awareness

Ludhiana: Getting creative to spread awareness on traffic rules among residents, the city traffic police will be forming human chain on January 10.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (traffic) Swapan Sharma told that the human chain would be formed along road starting from Hotel Gulmohar to Aarti chowk. The human chain will be formed between 11 am to 12 noon.

Expecting participation of around 5,000 people, Sharma appealed people to be a part of the initiative."People are welcomed with their posters, banners and placards in the human chain," said Sharma.

Police administration also have asked participants not to use any political banners and posters during the whole event. Industries slam rise in rail fare

Ludhiana: Knitwear, Textile and allied industries have condemned the Railway Ministry for increasing the fare up to 30 paise per kilometer for all classes. "The government is imposing extra burden with hike in fares," said Darshan Dawar President and Narinder Miglani general secretary of the club.
