Seasoned cuesit Cyrus Kyani took optimum advantage of his vast experience on the local circuit,which helped him to win the day for hosts Dadar Parsee Colony Gymkhana (DPCG) Roaring Tigers.
Tiger Kyani easily won the opening frame to provide his team the perfect start and later when the scores level at 2-2 he snatched a black ball finish against Hitesh K of Cricket Club of India (CCI) Jaguars in the crucial deciding frame to give DPCG a 3-2 victory in a thrilling Group-E Super League contest.
This win,ensured Tigers pole position in the group with four points and a passage to the pre-quarter-finals of the WZO (World Zoroastrian Organisation) Trust Mumbai snooker league. Challengers were second also with four points.
The Jaguars trailing 0-2,fought back strongly by winning the third and fourth frames to restore parity at two frame-all to set up the decider.
The final frame was close affair and went right to the wire. Kyani trailing 95-111 and requiring the last ball left on the table,kept his composure and just like a tiger he waited for the perfect opportunity to strike. Hitesh provided him that chance when he missed a not so easy attempt and left his opponent on. Kyani grabbed the chance to pocket the black and lift the spirits in the DPGC billiards hall.
Meanwhile,two-time Asian snooker champion Yasin Merchant of Khar Gymkhana Rivals also hogged the limelight as he strung together a neat break of 68,the highest in the tournament. Playing with a scratch handicap,Merchant came up with that effort during his 136-56 win against Nikhil Kulkarni (+55) of SPG Youngsters in the third frame. The Rivals won 3-1.

Group-H: ECC Barracudas,CCI Panthers 3-2.
