Cyrus Kyani helps Tigers roar to victory

This win,ensured Tigers pole position in the group with four points and a passage to the pre-quarter-finals of the WZO (World Zoroastrian Organisation) Trust Mumbai snooker league. ‘Challengers’ were second also with four points.

The Jaguars trailing 0-2,fought back strongly by winning the third and fourth frames to restore parity at two frame-all to set up the decider.

The final frame was close affair and went right to the wire. Kyani trailing 95-111 and requiring the last ball left on the table,kept his composure and just like a tiger he waited for the perfect opportunity to strike. Hitesh provided him that chance when he missed a not so easy attempt and left his opponent on. Kyani grabbed the chance to pocket the black and lift the spirits in the DPGC billiards hall.

Meanwhile,two-time Asian snooker champion Yasin Merchant of Khar Gymkhana ‘Rivals’ also hogged the limelight as he strung together a neat break of 68,the highest in the tournament. Playing with a scratch handicap,Merchant came up with that effort during his 136-56 win against Nikhil Kulkarni (+55) of SPG Youngsters in the third frame. The Rivals won 3-1.
