Dausa: Girl trapped in borewell rescued after 19 hours

After a 19-hour ordeal,a four-year-old girl was taken out in an unconscious state from a 48-ft deep open borewell in a Rajasthan village and rushed to a hospital.

After a 19-hour ordeal,a four-year-old girl was taken out in an unconscious state from a 48-ft deep open borewell in a Rajasthan village and rushed to a hospital.

The rescue team pulled out the trapped girl,Anju,by digging a tunnel parallel to the borewell in Moradi village in Dausa district,Collector Jogaram said.

The child was taken out of the borewell in an unconscious state at 12.25 hours and shifted to the Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur in an ambulance,he said.

Anju had fallen into the borewell at around 5.30 pm yesterday while she was playing there.

Five JCB and two other big machines and several other necessary equipment were pressed into service for the rescue mission. After the rescuers reached the same depth she was stuck on,Anju was transferred to the rescue tunnel by digging a hole between the tunnel and the borewell.

Members of emergency response team,officials of medical and health department,police and other concerned Government departments were camping in the area since yesterday.

An oxygen pipe was put into the borewell to help the girl breathe while water,milk and food were made available to her using a rope.
