Chief Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate a two-day Burhani Expo,an industrial exhibition which is being organised by the Dawoodi Bohra community at the Gujarat University Exhibition Hall on February 19 and 20.
A part of the centenary celebrations of the birth anniversary of Bohra spiritual leader Syedna Muhammed Burhanuddin,the event will showcase the achievements made by the community in trade and industry. Over 150 Bohra entrepreneurs from all over the world are expected to participate in the show.
Bohras are involved in a wide range of industry sectors like textiles,chemicals,paints,hardware,food,pharmaceuticals,electronics,information technology,construction,glass,timber,metal,paper,print and home appliances.
The organisers feel the exhibition will play a key role in creating a platform for business networking,providing growth opportunities and exposure to huge customer base.
Addressing media persons,community representative Kaizar Mahuwala said it was the seventh exhibition being organised by the community and the first in Gujarat.
As for reasons for holding the exhibition in Ahmedabad,he said Gujarat was growing fast and the Bohra community also wanted to be a part of it.
When questioned why Modi was invited to inaugurate the event despite strong opposition for him in the community,Syednas local representative Yusuf Bhaisab said business was different from politics. Dawoodi Bohras are basically traders and not involved in politics. They do not find any problem in inviting Modi to inaugurate the expo, said Bhaisab.
