In a breakthrough in the juvenile home escape case of Sunday,the Moga police arrested one of the eight boys who escaped today.
Eight boys,aged between 10 and 18 years,had escaped from the rehabilitation home after breaking the window grill.
Moga SSP Sneh Deep Sharma said,We have arrested one Vipan Kumar,who after running away from Ludhiana jail,had come to his home. We picked him up at eight in the morning and handed him over to the Ludhiana Police.
Meanwhile,Ludhiana ADCP Sushil Kumar said,We have dispatched various teams to homes of all these eight boys and are keeping an eye on the families. We are also questioning people who used to come and meet these boys in jail. We know the boys very well and will be able to nab them soon.
Reportedly,19-year-old Ibanpreet,who faces 17 charges,including that of murder,was a resident of Zirakpur. Others who escaped included Sandeep Kumar of Jalandhar,Narinder Singh of Malout,Vipan Kumar and Jeewan Kumar of Moga,Rajwinder Singh of Mandi,Ahmedgarh,Vipan Kumar from Uttar Pradesh (wanted in a murder case) and Sanjeev Kumar of village Bhatiyan,Ludhiana.
The correctional home staff also heaved a sigh of relief after Department of Social Welfare Director Rajneesh Basra gave a clean chit to the staff members. He said he did not see any connivance of the staff members in helping the boys to flee.
