  • When the news of terrorists striking at Delhi International Airport came out yesterday around 2 am, apart from security officials, there was another group of people who were busy.

The call centre of the DIAL (Delhi International Airport Limited) received a large number of calls, especially from foreign countries.

An official in the call centre said the frequency of the calls was four times higher than the normal calls.

“On an average, we receive 25 calls in an hour from abroad but yesterday after this news was flashed on TV channels all over the world, we received around 100 calls per hour and it went on till 9 in the morning till the situation came under control,” said an official.

The callers were reportedly asking about the incident and some about their dear ones who were at the Delhi Airport or whose flights were about to arrive. In fact, some of the senior officials of DIAL personally received calls on their cell phones.
