  • JD(S): The JD(S) expelled its Lok Sabha member M Shivanna for defying the party directive. The decision to expel the Chamarajanagar MP was taken at a meeting party chief H D Deve Gowda had with Lok Sabha member M P Veerendrakumar and party secretary general Danish Ali.

“We have decided to expel the MP for violating the decision of the party to vote against the confidence motion moved by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh,” Gowda said.

MDMK: An erstwhile partner of the UPA in Tamil Nadu and at the Centre, the MDMK is contemplating action against two of its members for defying the party whip directing them to vote against the Union Government. Party general secretary Vaiko had already warned action against the rebel members if they went against the whip. However, L Ganesan and Gingee N Ramachandran went against this and voted with the DMK in favour of the UPA.
