Day II: More companies throng PU job festival

Many more companies converged at the University Institute of Engineering and Technology campus as the first ever centralised job fair of the Panjab University.

Many more companies converged at the University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET) campus on Saturday as the first ever centralised job fair of the Panjab University moved to its second day.

In addition to the 20 companies that participated in the first session,prominent companies like Webcom Technologies,Gurudev Fincap,NIICT,Future Generalli and Volkswagen turned up to recruit from over 500 students on the second day.

ICICI Bank held an online test for 118 postgraduate students and a good number of them are expected to get selected. VIOM Networks also held an online test for about 150 candidates to fill 15 vacancies. Sona Steering from Gurgaon conducted a written exam for 15 students it plans to recruit four. A few offers are also expected to be rolled out by Agile Media,HCL,IBM and Cue Blocks.

Students from various departments of Panjab University,including Anthropology and English,were eligible for the placements. While engineering and management students were eligible for Webcom Technologies,Cue Blocks accepted English,Statistics and Mathematics students.

Science students were preferred by A K Vidyamandir. Most jobs were in the fields of marketing,finance and e-commerce.
