  • Following the intervention of Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, the District Transport Officer, Ludhiana, Chander Gaind has removed the ‘blue beacon’ from his private car. Earlier, he had installed blue beacon on his private Innova car having number PB 10CB 1010 and used to roam about in it for performing his official duties.

According to sources, “Another officer along with DTO used to roam about in their respective private cars carrying blue beacons installed on top of them. The officers however are not authorised to install it.”

Chander Gaind, the district transport officer, Ludhiana, when contacted refused to comment on the issue.

Yesterday, the matter was brought to the notice of newly-appointed deputy commissioner, following which he asked the DTO to remove blue beacon from his private car. Meanwhile, Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, DC, Ludhiana when contacted said,”It was brought to my notice and I told the DTO not to carry the beacon. One can carry blue beacon only if he has the required permission do so.”
