Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner Vikas Garg on Monday visited the vulnerable sites-Issapur,Dhulewal,Ghumana,Garhi Fazil,Matewara,Jamalpur Lely Kasabad,Khera Bet,Manewal,Huzra,Noorpur Bet and Madhepur-on the Dhussi bundh. He said the Drainage Department had been directed to keep round-the-clock vigil on the bundhs along the Sutlej in the district. He directed all the SDMs of the district,XEN,Drainage,and DRO to set up control rooms equipped with telephones at the district and sub-division headquarters and circulate the phone numbers among all the officers. He said the district-level control room would be set up in the district revenue office even as he urged the officers to maintain a register in the flood control rooms. He also told the XEN,Drainage,to set up information and working control rooms in his office which would have constant contact with Bhakra Head Works to collect information regarding discharge of water into the rivers and to further give this information to the concerned officers without any delay. He urged all the SDMs to send him a report about rain gauge for measuring rain during rainy seasons. He also directed the animal husbandry and health departments to keep relief measures in readiness to meet any eventuality.
