De Niro’s Globe trophy falls apart

The 'Taxi Driver' star was left embarrassed after his lifetime achievement Golden Globe broke.

Hollywood star Robert De Niro was left red-faced at the Golden Globes awards after his lifetime achievement trophy fell to pieces.

The Hollywood legend was honoured with the coveted Cecil B DeMille prize at the star-studded ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday night.

The 67-year-old actor took to the stage to accept the award,but the trophy broke shortly afterwards and an embarrassed De Niro was forced to explain its absence to reporters backstage,Contactmusic reported.

“The top fell off. They warned me. They’ll have to solder it back on,” he said.
