Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited is yet to comply with the directions issued by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to restore all points of interconnection between BSNL landline and mobile phones of private service operators. To restore the services,TRAI had given a 48-hour deadline to BSNL,which ends on Friday.

“We are taking necessary action,” maintained BSNL Chairman and Managing Director. However, when asked,a senior TRAI official said: “We are yet to receive any communication from BSNL’s side.” Rajan Mathews,Director General of COAI,also said,“We haven’t received any official confirmation of compliance of TRAI’s directions by BSNL.”

Meanwhile, residents of Chandigarh,Panchkula and Mohali continued to bear the brunt of the standoff between BSNL and private service operators — Airtel,Idea and Vodafone. Services in Punjab,Haryana and Maharashtra remained adversely affected due to the dispute arising out of non-payment of carriage charges by the private operators.

It has been a month since BSNL has disconnected connectivity between mobile phones of private operators and BSNL landline phones in Punjab,Haryana and Maharashtra.
