Naxalites have warned the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) about the pitfalls of the pact, signed last month, with the GP Koirala-led government in Kathmandu that stipulates surrendering of arms, its supervision by the United Nations and formation of an interim government.
The central committee of the CPI(Maoist) will soon issue a written warning, saying, "The CC (central committee), CPI(Maoist), as one of the detachments of world proletariat, warns the CPN (Maoist) and the people of Nepal of the grave danger inherent in the agreement to deposit arms and calls upon them to reconsider their tactics in the light of bitter historical experiences."
According to the Indian Maoists, the decision taken by Prachanda and the top leadership of CPN (M) is based on "illusion" that would result in the decimation of the revolution in Nepal. Signed by spokesperson Azad, the detailed release specifies as many as five reasons why the agreement should be repealed.
Naxalites are of the view that the clause requiring surrender of arms by Nepalese Maoists would work in favour of the government as it would then be able to use the huge stockpile of arms to strengthen the reactionary forces against the revolution. The release says, "It is sheer illusion to think that a new Nepal can be built without smashing the existing state."
Indian Maoists have had a close collaboration with their Nepal counterparts. There was frequent interaction between both sides and assistance rendered in terms of arms and logistics. The Coordination Committee of Maoist Parties in South Asia (CCOMPSA) still has representation from five countries in the region including Nepal.
