Dear Sanjay

Each day springs new surprises on me,many I am unable to fathom. Satyam has far outwitted me and the thought of Sanjay Dutt in Parliament is equally perplexing.

Each day springs new surprises on me,many I am unable to fathom. Satyam has far outwitted me and the thought of Sanjay Dutt in Parliament is equally perplexing.

I like Sanjay. It really is quite simple. It’s hard not to like the man. There are qualities in him that need to be admired. I have personally witnessed several acts of generosity few are capable of. His friends and family swear by him no matter what he does,he always returns the as the prodigal son. His ‘macho-ness’ in no way has prevented him from living life through his heart. He is always ready to ring an old buddy and weeps when his driver informs him of his wifes demise. His daughter has been a better child than he a parent, but that he dotes on her is unarguable.

On the professional side,he is one of the best actors in the industry, giving some of the most powerful performances on screen. Vastaav is proof enough. His comic timing is perfect,Munnabhai is an adequate example.

If any child wanted to be actor,I’d show him/her every movie of his. If I needed a donation for a charity he’d never refuse me. If I needed a film star to cut a ribbon pro bono,he’d be the first I’d ask.

But,if I wanted answers on the political welfare on the economic growth of India; if our country was facing drought and famine; if the problem in Kashmir worsened and we needed to find a solution,he would be the last on my list. I doubt he even knows how many seats there are in the Lok Sabha, forget Lucknow.

After 26/11,we have the right to speak up. We have to have the will to speak, but sensibly. This is not to hurt him or Amar Singh. I am fond of both of them and my interactions with them have been only pleasant and affable. But if we don’t choose on leaders responsibly,India will forever fail to shine.

We need to motivate the youth on political leaders. We must think of the country first. And both are doing a great disservice to each other as well as every other citizen of our country.

Just as it would be ludicrous to see Amar Singh shaking his hips to Khalnayak on the big screen,to have Sanjay in the Lok Sabha would be a travesty. This is not even taking into account his past grave mistake. And we’re not even talking about water balloons on Holi here. To prevent a shooting star from falling—this is just a reminder that I am a well-wisher.
