Shabbirmiya Hassumiya Sindhi,one of the eyewitnesses in the Deepda Darwaza case,Monday named more than 25 accused,including three women,before the designated court hearing the case. Eleven people,including five children,were hacked to death and then burnt in their houses during the 2002 post-Godhra riots at Deepda Darwaza in Mehsanas Visnagar taluka. We examined the witness today. The witness identified the accused persons with their names. He also identified the women who sprinkled kerosene and petrol to burn the hacked bodies of the injured victims, special public prosecutor PR Agrawal said. Deepda Darwaza is one of the cases being tried in the SIT- constituted special fast-track courts,which set up after the Supreme Court ordered the state to set up such courts to try 10 key riot cases including Naroda Patia,Naroda Gam and Gulbarg Society cases. The courts have been set up in Ahmedabad,Mehsana,Sabarkantha and Anand districts.
