Committal hearing into the charges of manslaughter against Indian surgeon Jayant Patel has been postponed till later this month as two witnesses were unavailable for a hearing on Tuesday.
The Brisbane Magistrates Court adjourned the hearing, saying that one witness, yet to be cross-examined, was unwell and to be operated. Another witness was to be cross-examined on April 20, media report said here.
Patel did not attend today's hearing but had his bail enlarged.
Patel has been facing 13 charges, including manslaughter and fraud, relating to his job as director of surgery at Bundaberg Base Hospital in southern Queensland between 2003 and 2005.
