  • The state Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) collected details of 21 students of the 2003-05 batch of the Arabic department of Lucknow University, who belong to Jammu & Kashmir.

These students were batchmates of the alleged Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) operative Mohammad Aslam, who was arrested in Delhi on Tuesday.

Of the 21 students, 10 of them belong to Aslam’s native district — Rajauri, said Brij Lal, ADG (Law & Order). On Friday, the team visited the Arabic department and inquired the staff about the group of Kashmiri boys. They tried to probe if any of the staff members recalled the daily routine and the activities of the students during their stay in the university.

The senior ATS officials have sent the particulars of the students belonging to Rajauri and other places to the local police, seeking their help in getting their addresses verified physically. After the addresses are verified, a team will visit Jammu and will seek the help of the local police to trace the students, said Lal.

The ATS officials are also trying to contact other students of the same batch who belong to Lucknow and the other districts. This would help the team to collect details about the activities of the students from Jammu and Kashmir.

A state ATS team, meanwhile, has been camping in Delhi to interrogate Aslam who is presently being interrogated by the Ahmedabad police.
