A team of Delhi Police's special cell has picked up a man from Rander area in Surat for allegedly stealing luxury cars in Delhi.
Mohammed Faruk (32) was allegedly a member of notorious Mewati gang involved in theft of luxury cars and trucks and carried a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head.
According to police, Faruk's elder brother Mohammd Arif was killed in an exchange of fire with the security guards of a jewellery show room in Pitampura area of Delhi in June last year. Faruk himself was able to escape.
The eight-member Delhi Police team, led by inspector Umesh Bhardawaj, came to Surat on Saturday after getting information about the presence of Faruk in Rander area. They nabbed Faruk from Aslamnagar area in Rander on Wednesday afternoon and left Surat after informing Rander police about him.
Rander police said Faruk had come to Surat on January 16 and had been staying at his brother-in-law Mohammed Raees's house. Faruk hails from Adbar village in Mewat district of Haryana.
Cops raid gambling den, 91 held
Police rounded up at least 91 people for gambling in Navsari railway station premises Thursday evening and seized Rs 3 lakh in cash along with over 90 mobile phones.
Around 50 beds, two television sets, 15 fans and about 100 plastic chairs were also seized from the spot. The arrested gamblers were taken to the police station in two luxury buses and the furniture and other seized goods were brought in a truck.
Police said the gambling den was run by one Raju Marwari and the gamblers were residents of different villages in Navsari and Surat.
