Delhi: Four friends,two guards arrested for NRI’s murder

Anmol and three friends had arrived at a friend's place in Kalkaji around 8 pm.

Two days after 20-year-old NRI Anmol Sarna was found dead in a residential complex in Southeast Delhi’s Kalkaji,the police on Monday arrested six persons — four of his friends and two security guards.

20-year-old NRI out partying in Kalkaji found dead

Police said Anmol’s friends,with whom he had been partying before he was found dead with injuries all over his body and a fractured skull,were arrested under Section 27 of the NDPS Act for illegal possession of drugs in small amount. Police identified them as Pranel Shah,Shivank Gambhir,Madhav Bhandari and Rytham Girhotra. Two security guards,46-year-old Surender Bali and 60-year-old Naresh Mishra,were booked for murder,police said.

Under Section 27 of the NDPS Act,Anmol’s four friends are liable for punishment for up to six-month imprisonment or fine or both,which,in respect of drugs like heroin,would be up to one-year imprisonment or fine or both.

NRI’s death: Police search Noida,find bloodstains on cars

The police have seized CCTV footage from the apartment complex,which purportedly shows the guards having a scuffle with Anmol on the fateful night.

“The CCTV footage shows Anmol running around the complex and the guards shouting,asking him to leave. The footage shows a scuffle between Anmol and the guards,” a senior police officer said.

The police on Sunday conducted a raid in Noida in connection with the purchase of drugs.

Anmol and three friends had arrived at a friend’s place in the apartment complex in Kalkaji around 8 pm. A farewell party was being organised for one of their friends,who was expected to leave for London on Saturday.

Around midnight,neighbours woke up to commotion and sounds of screams. Anmol was seen running into a lane without his shirt. His was then found unconscious near a building by neighbours,who made a PCR call. Anmol was then rushed to AIIMS,where he succumbed to injuries.

Friends face murder charge in death probe

At around the same time,Anmol’s mother reportedly received a call from one of his friends who was at the party. As she had missed the call,she called back. No one answered. A few minutes later,another friend’s mother reportedly called Anmol’s mother,informing that he had been rushed to hospital after he complained of stomach infection.
