Delhi HC blast: 2 nomadic Gujjars held,gave ‘food and shelter’ to militants

Two arrested after return from highland pasture.

The Jammu and Kashmir police have taken into custody two Udhampur residents as part of their investigation into the September 7 blast in front of the Delhi High Court.

Though senior police officers would not talk much about the arrests,sources identified the two as Manzoor Ahmed and Mushtaq Ahmed – both nomadic Gujjars. They were arrested soon after the duo,along with their cattle herd,returned to Udhampur from their highland pastures in Dachan area of Kishtwar district.

Sources said during their stay in Dachan,the duo had provided food,shelter and other logistics to militants behind the bomb blast which killed 15 and injured 80 others outside Delhi High Court. With their apprehension,the number of people arrested in the case has gone up to five as the NIA has already arrested three Kishtwar youth.

These three Kishtwar youth include Waseem Akram Malik,Aamir Abbas Dev and Abid Hussain. While Waseem was a medical student in Dhaka,Aamir pursued a graduation course through correspondence from Moulana Azad University,and Abid studied in class XI at Islamia Faridia Higher Secondary School,Kishtwar.

The NIA has also issued wanted notices and announced a Rs 10 lakh award for the apprehension of three Hizbul Mujahideen – Shakir Hussain Sheikh alias Chotta Hafiz alias Adil,Amir Ali Kamal alias Amir alias Akram and Junaid Akram Malik – all residents of Kishtwar and active Hizbul Mujahideen militants operating in Dachan area of the hilly district. Junaid is the younger brother of Waseem.
