Delhi HC rejects bail plea of serial blast accused

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday rejected the bail plea of suspected Indian Mujahideen militant Saquib Nissar,an accused in Delhi serial blasts case,to appear in the final semester examination of MBA.

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday rejected the bail plea of suspected Indian Mujahideen militant Saquib Nissar,an accused in Delhi serial blasts case,to appear in the final semester examination of MBA.

Justice Geeta Mittal dismissed the bail application of Nissar, who is presently in Ahmedabad in connection with the July 26 Gujarat serial blasts case, after his counsel pressed for permission to his client to appear in the examination, slated to begin from July 18,in Delhi itself.

He submitted that Nissar cannot appear in exam while in the custody of Gujarat police as the Manipal University had declined to conduct the examination in Ahmedabad saying that it would be expensive to conduct the test for one person only.

The court was informed by the Delhi police that the accused was required to be produced in various courts in Ahmedabad again on July 18 and he will be brought back to the city again in case he was allowed to go to Delhi for the examination.

Nissar, who has been in custody since September 20,pleaded before the court that the gravity of the allegations cannot and should not bar the right of any accused to pursue his studies.

The High Court had, earlier, refused to grant him interim bail when he was to appear in the fifth semester exam and had allowed him to write his paper from jail.
