Delhi High Court has stayed the release of feature film ‘Dekh Bhai Dekh’.

The Delhi High Court has stayed the release of feature film 'Dekh Bhai Dekh' after the producer of a TV serial of the same name raised the issue of alleged copyrights violation.

Justice Manmohan Singh passed the restraint order on a plea by Aanand Mahendroo, producer of a popular comedy TV serial, contending that it amounts to violation of his copyright in the title.

The film starring Gracy Singh, Siddharth Koirala has been directed by Rahat Kazmi.

Senior Advocate Mukul Rohotki and Prathibha Singh, appearing for Mahendroo, submitted that the producer of the film is trying to capitalise on the reputation of the title of the TV serial which was very famous and was telecast in many countries since 1993.

"The said television serial created its own status and history in Indian television industry in early 1990s and even today it has the same fame and values attached to it. It may be fair to say that the said television serial has achieved iconic status," they said while pleading for stay on the release of the film.
