Step on it
Fed up with the slow pace of investigations into the alleged scam involving the DDA Housing Scheme 2008, the Lieutenant-Governor has directed the Economic Offenses Wing of the Delhi Police to wind up the investigation “as soon as possible”. Successful allotees of the draw conducted in December last year are still awaiting possession of flats as the Ministry of Urban Development had directed that no allotment will be carried out till all investigations are wrapped up. Officials at Raj Niwas confirmed that the EOW has conveyed to the L-G that the investigation will be wrapped up by June 15 at the very latest.
Sweet surrender
The local police of Massorie village in Ghaziabad was in a dilemma of sorts when a man, reportedly famished for long, got angry and climbed up a tall tower. Despite several requests he refused to get down. Villagers informed the cops that he was hungry and scaled the tower in distress. Not willing to buy this, the policemen first resorted to their typical way of warning and sincere advises to the man but when everything else failed, they had to come back with jalebis for him. And the man actually came down knowing the sweets were waiting for him. Apart from the sweets, though, the man was also served some severe reprimand by the cops.
