According to a senior official in the Delhi government, the agenda of Health department meetings on the H1N1 virus is largely centred on the quality of snacks and tea being served during the meetings. “We have these meetings daily nowadays. And you cannot blame the babus for being touchy about the quality of snacks. They have to work round-the-clock after all,” a senior official at the Delhi Secretariat said.

Bullet-proof reasoning
When it was revealed that Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) H G S Dhaliwal was shot at during the Bunty encounter a year ago, questions were raised as to why this information wasn’t shared with the media at that time. Dhaliwal was awarded a police gallantry award this Independence Day and the citation clearly states he was saved by a bullet-proof jacket. When Police Commissioner Y S Dadwal was questioned in this regard, he said, “Yes, he was hit while wearing a bullet-proof jacket.” But when asked as to why this was not made public, he said, “No one asked us about it.”

Spoiled in a flash
When the roof of the new Rs 500-crore terminal at IGI Airport crashed and leaked after 30 minutes of heavy rain on Friday, a senior airport official said, “It was like watching the Niagara Falls without having gone anywhere.” While passengers and airport staff ran for shelter from the pouring rain, some airport officials said it was disheartening to see all the expensive items at the retail outlets getting spoiled because of the water at Terminal 1D. “The expensive Hidesign bags were spoiled in a flash,” one of them said.
