Delhi victim’s death leaves city numb

The death of Delhi gang rape victim early on Saturday morning has left the city numb. Terming it as a 'black day', many of the city residents said they will cancel their New year plans as a mark of respect to the girl. "She was dead the same day she was raped. In India, daughters are not safe either in the womb or outside it," said Simranjeet Kaur Sidhu, who says she cancelled her New year party in wake of the incident.

" We all should wear black clothes on December 31 to signify that humanity has passed away in 2012. I am so ashamed by the incident that celebrations are a faraway thing," said Harpreet Mahal from Doraha. " Today God has failed us all. The death of the girl was definitely unavoidable with her deteriorating condition but the question is will this shame continue with the girls in future?" said Swati Sharma, who adds that she will now cancel her plans to visit Shimla on New Year eve with her family.

" An angel has departed and devils are still here on earth. I want death penalty of all six at the earliest. This would be the worst new year for India as our country has displayed the worst side of the human race," said Kavita Dhanuka. " I am disturbed and so is the whole nation. Her death has left us ashamed and public hanging is the only way to let her soul rest in peace," said B K Goyal, a senior citizen.
