A demolition drive which was to be held on Wednesday at Khuda Ali Jassu village could not be done due to paucity of policemen who could accompany the team for the drive.
Officials claimed that due to the all-India strike on Wednesday, a police force could not be provided, due to which the drive to demolish an authorised five storey building could not be carried out.
Officials said that police personnel are required to carry out such drives to avoid any untoward incident and to prevent any law and order violations.
However, high drama was witnessed in the morning when the team had visited there and the sarpanches of two nearby villages also gathered on the spot and claimed that the move to demolish the building was a result of the highhandedness of the officials as the building was within the Lal Dora and thus was not illegal.
