A new study has found that males who think they may lose their jobs become more depressed and stressed than women in the same situation.

Although men put on a brave face in times of uncertainty, they recorded higher measures than women of depression and anxiety on the standard clinical measure.

According to Burchell, there was in part “a macho issue about men being the breadwinner”.
